Education Programme of the Institute
The McKenzie Institute International was established in 1982 to ensure that the highest standards of education were provided to those wishing to learn the McKenzie Method of MDT. Today, McKenzie’s concepts are widely recommended as the first treatment of choice for patients with musculoskeletal problems in over 40 countries, and the Institute’s reputation continues to grow internationally.
General Overview
The McKenzie Institute Faculty are world class experts in the McKenzie Method, and are dedicated to providing you with the very best training and support as you embark on what will be a life changing journey, both personally and professionally.
Our Education Programme is structured as follows:
Courses
The core curriculum offered globally consists of four core courses (Parts A-D) that allow participants to observe and learn, through lectures and practice as well as demonstration with patients, techniques of McKenzie's Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy® applied to the lumbar, cervical and thoracic spine and peripheral joints. Some components of Part A and Part B courses can be completed online in a few countries.
Part A must be completed first, and Part D completed last. The order for completing Parts B and C is at the discretion of the course participant. Some branches offer an MDT of Advanced Extremities course.
Training in the McKenzie Method is coordinated by branch affiliates licensed by The McKenzie Institute International located throughout the world or by the McKenzie Institute International Head Office for countries where no branch has yet been established.
Credentialling Examination
A Credentialling Examination can be undertaken at the completion of the core Education Programme and serves as formal recognition of attainment to a level of competency in the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy®. Completion of Parts A to D is a prerequisite for the Credentialling Examination.
International Diploma
The Diploma MDT Programme is the pinnacle of MDT training. Successfully completing the Diploma MDT Programme will place you amongst the world’s elite in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy.

Additional Development
In addition to these courses, each year the Institute presents an opportunity to enhance and update the training offered in their regular educational programme through Refresher Courses and Conferences. These conferences offer a wider range of topics and discuss issues related to the clinical efficacy of the McKenzie Method and the evidence presented by the scientific community. Details of these conferences are provided by branches.
